Antioch, IL-- Thanksgiving Day through New Year's Day 2018
In 2018, Dickens Holiday Village is back and even more Handcrafted Dickens Characters made by our volunteer artists will be on display as a Public Art Program that is free for everyone to enjoy! Antioch proudly display more Dickens Characters for people to tour. Each character has a plaque describing the scene and also serves as an educational tool for students. Take a self-guided tour with one of our Dickens Walking Brochure Maps or reserve a tour guide for groups of 20 or more. Plus there is plenty of Dickens Fun for everyone. Large tour groups may enjoy Dickens Teas, Luncheons, and much more.
Our local volunteer artists come in all types: Creating the Dickens Faces and Heads, Apparel for the characters, woodworking to create the actual wooden mannekins we use, creating storylines for each scene, even families who volunteer to brush snow off the Dickens Characters if necessary.
You've heard the phrase "it takes a Village to . . . ", it certainly takes a Village to create Dickens Holiday Village! Dozens of artists and volunteers work year round to bring Antioch this free Public Art Program. Dickens Souvenirs are available in our Dickens Welcome Center (located inside of Hannahs on Lake Street). In 2018 Dickens will be on display Thanksgiving Day through New Year's Day.
