Scholarship Opportunities at Antioch’s Taste of Summer - Antioch IDOL

Announcing the 1st Annual
Antioch IDOL at the
Taste of Summer
Antioch IDOL, at Antioch’s Taste of Summer, is seeking amateur vocally talented students interested in competing for a chance to win scholarships. A total of $3,500 in scholarships will be awarded to winners to help further their education. Students from the Illinois and Wisconsin Counties of: Lake, McHenry, Kenosha, Racine and Walworth are eligible to compete.
Contestants will audition at Antioch’s Taste of Summer Festival (July 19-22, 2012). Auditions are limited to the first 300 registered contestants in total. Advance online registration is available at www.AntiochChamber.org If advance online registration does not reach the 300 maximum, there will be on-site registration on Thursday, July 19th at 4 pm.
Elimination auditions will be held on Friday, July 20th from 4 pm till 7 pm. After the eliminations auditions, the Top 20 Contestants will be announced that evening at the Taste, on Friday, 7/20. The Semi-Finalists, comprised of the Top 20 Contestants, will perform live on stage the evening of Saturday, July 21st from 6 pm till 7 pm. The results of those auditions will be announced later that evening, providing Antioch with their Top 10 Finalists.
On Sunday Afternoon, July 22nd, the Top 10 Finalists will perform live on stage at Antioch’s Taste from 2 pm to 5 pm. Each of the Top 10 Finalists will perform a one minute accapella without music or instruments. Also, each Finalists will perform live on stage with “Live Band Karaoke” as their backup band.
One winner of a $2,500 Scholarship will be awarded, as well as smaller scholarships for the remaining finalists. In addition, one of the Top 10 Finalists will be voted the “Fan Favorite” that Sunday afternoon and will receive additional prizes.
All vocally talented students interested in competing in Antioch IDOL at the Taste of Summer, must provide the necessary registration forms, signed release, photo, GPA record, and registration fee. Antioch IDOL is designed for vocally talented students wanting to further their education.

Antioch Idol Contest Rules:

Eligibility
Students ages 12-21 residing in Illinois Counties Lake or McHenry, or Wisconsin Counties Racine, Walworth or Kenosha with a valid identification card (student ID or driver’s license) and have a minimum GPA of 2.0 are eligible to compete.
Students must not have any type of talent representation (e.g., a talent agency or manager), recording contract, or merchandising agreement, or any other contractual arrangement that would prohibit entering into a management contract, recording contract or merchandising contract. All auditioners must be available to compete at the ANTIOCH IDOL semi-finals on Saturday, July 21st 2012 and the ANTIOCH IDOL finals on Sunday, July 22nd 2012. Conflicts will cause students to become ineligible to continue with the competition. Performance dates are subject to change at the producer’s discretion.

What to bring to auditions
1. Your application must be completed online before Antioch’s Taste of Summer begins, Thursday, July 19th 2012. On site registration for contestants who have not registered online will be available Thursday, July 19th, granted that open audition slots are still available. (Limit 300 slots.)
2. A signed performance release must be completed online with your application.
3. A valid identification card (student ID or driver’s license) must be brought to auditions.
4. An 8x10 color photo of the contestant must be submitted along with event registration. These should be emailed to office@antiochchamber.org. in the subject line, please put ANTIOCH IDOL PHOTO. Please include your name and telephone number in the email body, and submit the photo by attachment.
5. A printout of your most recent report card or up-to-date transcript must be brought to auditions on Friday, July 20th 2012.
6. The $20 non-refundable entry fee must be paid online during registration via credit card.

What to sing at auditions
Any one-minute long section of song performed a cappella (without music or instrument). If you make the Finals, (Top Ten), you will be singing with Live Band Karaoke, singing an additional song of your choosing, to be selected from what is available from Live Band Karaoke’s website, http://livebandkaraoke.com/songs.php. Please prepare your selection and practice in advance. Rules and procedures are subject to change at the producer’s discretion.

Paperwork
You and a parent/guardian (needed if you are under 18) must complete and sign our required performance release form outlining terms and conditions of the application. Forms will also be available at the audition location. Family or friends who accompany you should be prepared to sign releases concerning possible taping and/or recording of their names, likenesses, conversation etc.

Disqualification
We reserve the right to disqualify and/or exclude, in our sole and absolute discretion any individual from any of the auditions for any reason or no reason at all including without limitation, violation of any portion of these rules, or tampering with the entry or audition process. Rules and procedures are subject to change at the producer’s discretion.

General Conditions
By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the producer, the voting audience, and the panel of judges, which shall be final. Your presence at the auditions, and the presence of your friends, family members, and anyone else accompanying you, constitutes your and their consent and agreement to the recording and use of your and their performance, appearance, name, voice, singing, likeness and any musical or sound effects produced by you and/or them for use in connection with any TV program, movie, or internet presentation for all purposes (including advertising, marketing, promotion, merchandising and the exploitation of any and all ancillary and subsidiary rights.) These may be edited, in all media, in perpetuity for no compensation, unless otherwise required by law. If you and/or your friends, family members, or anyone else accompanying you to the audition or performance do not wish to be photographed, PLEASE DO NOT AUDITION AND STAY OUT OF THE CAMERA RANGE. You and/or their failure to do so will be deemed a waiver of any and all claims for invasion of privacy, defamation, appropriation, performance fees, etc. All federal, state and local laws apply. Dates and locations are subject to change. In signing (by hand or digitally) this application, you and your parent/guardian acknowledge that all conditions therein will be adhered to, and any violation of these rules will result in immediate disqualification from the ANTIOCH IDOL competition. ANTIOCH IDOL and the Antioch Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the production personnel for the program, participating media, ad agencies, or any person or entity connected with the production, administration, or judging for the auditions or the program, or any of their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, agents, or representatives are not responsible for and shall not be liable for (i) any failure of transportation, bad directions, or inability for any reason to appear at an audition or performance or appearance before the judges; (ii) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by traveling to or from the audition venues, being present at the audition venues, participating in the audition process or being selected for or disqualified from the process and/or the show; or (iii) any printing, NO WEAPONS, ALCOHOL, OR NON-PRESCRIPTION DRUGS WILL BE PERMITTED AT ANY AUDITION. GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP IS EXPECTED AT ALL TIMES.
PERFORMANCE RELEASE FORM:
In consideration for the opportunity to participate in the ANTIOCH IDOL competition (the “Competition”) and other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, the undersigned hereby irrevocably assigns to the Antioch Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the sponsor of the Competition, its subsidiaries , affiliates, licensees, assignees, and designees (collectively, “Chamber”), the irrevocable perpetual right and license throughout the universe to use and publish and to allow third-parties to use and publish my name, voice, likeness, image, photographs, and approved biographical material in connection with or related to, directly or indirectly, the advertising, promotion or publicity of the Competition, in any medium, whether utilizing technology now known or hereafter devised. Additionally, I acknowledge and agree that the Chamber shall have the right to film, record and videotape my performances at the Competition, and backstage shots, interviews, and any other documentary-type footage of me (collectively, the “Footage”), that the Chamber shall have the perpetual right to edit the Footage in one or more audio and audiovisual programs of the Competition (collectively, the “Programs”), and that the Chamber shall have the perpetual right to exploit throughout the universe the Programs in all forms of medium, whether utilizing technology now known or hereafter devised, without further remuneration or payment to me.
I further acknowledge and agree that the Footage is a work specially ordered or commissioned for use as part of an audiovisual work and as such is a “work made for hire” for benefit of the Chamber within the meaning of the United States Copyright Act of 1976, as amended. Accordingly, the Chambrr will own throughout the universe, all right, title and interest in and to the Footage and all derivatives thereof and shall have the right to exploit and otherwise use the Footage (including the audio soundtrack thereto), or any portion thereof, in any and all mediums, whether utilizing technology now known or hereafter devised. If it is ever determined that my performances and other appearances as embodied within the Footage are not “works made for hire”, I shall be deemed to have irrevocably assigned in perpetuity and throughout the universe the Chamber all right, title and interest therein and thereto, including, without limitation, all copyrights therein and thereto throughout the universe for the life of the copyright (including all renewals and extensions thereof). I hereby waive all so-called “moral rights” in and to the Footage.
I further acknowledge, confirm, and agree that (i) I am currently enrolled in school in Illinois Counties Lake or McHenry, or Wisconsin Counties Walworth, Kenosha or Racine, and I hereby authorize the Chamber to take any action the Chamber deems necessary or appropriate to verify the same, (ii) I am between twelve to twenty-one (12-21) years of age, (iii) I have no type of talent representation (including, without limitation, a talent agent or manager), a music recording contract, a merchandising agreement or any other contractual arrangement that would prohibit me from entering into a management contract, recording contract, or merchandising agreement.
Finally, I acknowledge and agree to be bound by my signature (whether by hand or signed digitally) to all of the rules set forth on the website for the competition, http://antiochchamber.org/index.php?m=5&s=85, as such rules may change from time to time, and to be bound to the conditions within this performance release.
