BEARS ON THE CHAIN
The Bear Dinner Auction Finale was September 16th - 125 people attended and enjoyed watching Antioch's Bears on the Chain find their "Forever" homes! Those who weren't able to attend gave proxy bids to the Antioch Chamber and hoped for the best. In fact 2 people who gave proxy bears won their bears and are enjoying life with an Antioch Bear.
35 BEARS ENJOYED ANTIOCH'S BUSINESS COMMUNITY IN 2011
In 2010, Antioch hosted its first Public Art Program . . . Antioch’s DOGS ON
THE CHAIN (of Lakes). This community art project that delighted animal and art enthusiasts of all ages. DOGS ON THE CHAIN transformed Antioch into a dog walking paradise. This brought together our local artists and our business community with the creation of life-sized, hand-painted fiberglass dogs that found homes throughout Antioch’s Business Community, both in the Downtown and around the Chain of Lakes. In September of 2010, the Dogs were put on the auction block and raised $20,000+ that was shared by Antioch's Open Arms Food Pantry, Save-A-Pet, and the ACHS Scholarship Fund.
The Antioch Chamber of Commerce is proud to be the host of Antioch’s second year of public art . . . Antioch’s BEARS ON THE CHAIN. This art program fulfilled several purposes: it featured local artists, boosted tourism, promoted local businesses and at the Dinner Auction Finale, benefitted local organizations that are in need to the amount of $16,000+.
Various contests and events for all ages were planned and enjoyed as part of BEARS ON THE CHAIN.
